Elaine Reisman and her husband Bernard (Bernie) were regulars at Alzheimer's Association events and programs of all kinds. Bernie was the founding director of the Hearthstein Program for Jewish Community Service at Brandeis University. Elaine taught early childhood education at Leslie College until 2000. In 1995, Bernie was showing signs of forgetfulness; five years later he retired from Brandeis, with Alzheimer's
